Body Composition Scan with Fit3D

Three-dimensional body scanning in Ashburn, Virginia.

See what the scale cannot tell you. Fat, muscle, measurements and posture, captured in one pass and tracked over time so you can watch the trend instead of guessing at it.

Root WorksWhy we scan

The scale gives you one number. It is the least useful one.

Two people at the same weight can have completely different amounts of muscle, fat and fluid. Weight also cannot tell you where you are gaining or losing, which is often the part that matters most.

A scan separates those things out. It is also the reason a month that felt like nothing on the scale can turn out to be a month where you traded fat for muscle, which is exactly what you want and exactly what weight alone hides.

Available on its own, and built into the Root Works program so we can measure rather than assume.

scheduleQuick and simpleStand on the platform, hold the handles, and let it rotate.
health_and_safetyNo radiationCameras and light, not X-rays. Scan as often as it is useful.
insightsBuilt for trendsEvery scan is stored, so each one is measured against your own history.
monitor_weightWhat it measures

Four things the scale cannot show you.

donut_small

Fat and lean mass

How much of your weight is fat and how much is muscle, and which direction each one is moving.

straighten

Measurements

Waist, hips, chest, thighs and arms, captured the same way every time so the comparison is real.

accessibility_new

Posture and balance

Shoulder and hip alignment and weight distribution, which often explains recurring aches.

3d_rotation

A 3D model

A full model of your body you can rotate and compare side by side against any earlier scan.

Results are yours. You get access to your own scans and can pull them up between visits.

routeHow we use it

A baseline, then proof.

Step 01

Baseline

We scan at the start, before anything changes, so there is something honest to measure against.

Step 02

Into the plan

What the scan shows shapes the nutrition and movement side of your plan rather than sitting in a file.

event_repeat
Step 03

Re-scan

We scan again after enough time has passed for real change, not weekly noise.

Step 04

Compare

We look at the two side by side at your next program visit. This is where the work becomes visible.

Root WorksQuestions

Before your first scan.

What does the scan measure?add

Body fat and lean mass, circumference measurements at the waist, hips, chest, thighs and arms, posture and balance indicators, and a full three-dimensional model of your body.

Is there any radiation?add

No. Fit3D uses cameras and light rather than radiation, so there is no exposure and no limit on how often you can scan.

How long does it take?add

The scan itself is brief. You stand on the platform, hold the handles, and it rotates while capturing. Your results are sent to you afterward.

What do I wear?add

Form-fitting clothing gives the most accurate measurements. We will tell you exactly what to bring when you book.

How often should I scan?add

Often enough to see a real trend and not so often that normal fluctuation looks like change. For most people that means every few months alongside their plan.

Do I need to be a Root Works patient?add

No. Scans are available on their own. They are also built into the program, where the trend over time is what makes them useful.

callBook a scan

Start with a baseline.

The most useful scan is the first one, because everything after it has something to be measured against. Scans are by appointment, so book a time and we will get you in.

Questions first? Call (703) 296-4730

  • 01Book an appointment and we will tell you what to wear.
  • 02Scan on the platform. Your results are sent to you.
  • 03Re-scan when enough has changed to be worth measuring.
scheduleHow to prepare

Five things that make your numbers comparable.

  • checkroomWear form-fitting clothing, and tie long hair up off your shoulders
  • watch_offLeave jewellery, watches and shoes off for the scan
  • water_dropCome normally hydrated, not fasted and not straight after a large meal
  • fitness_centerSkip a hard workout beforehand, since swelling shifts measurements
  • event_repeatBook future scans around the same time of day

Consistency is what turns a single scan into a trend worth reading.
